Global solutions for local challenges
Our changing climate is on business and government agendas across the world. The effects of climate change will impact on every level of society so a considered effort is needed if we are to reduce potential risks. Royal Haskoning understands these sensitive issues and the need to tackle climate change, and works with clients to guide and support action.
Royal Haskoning's activities range from sustainable construction projects in Peterborough to environmental impact assessments in Russia; from habitat creation projects on the River Thames through to hurricane forecasting in the Caribbean.
Particular areas covered by our climate change services include carbon footprinting and carbon trading; climate adaptation assessments; ecological adaptation to climate change; climate and sustainability policy development; and delivery of projects to enable successful adaptation to expected climate change.
Our experience of dealing with related issues ranges from developing and advising upon flood risk management and renewable energy needs, to environmental impact assessments for proposed developments. Our solutions are socially and environmentally friendly, and work with nature not against it.

Ponts Hill, Littleport
A contaminated land site investigation and risk assessment of a former gas works site at Littleport, East Cambridgeshire, including advice on remediation techniques.
The site was historically used as a Gasworks which was operational from 1867 to the 1970's. After this period the area was developed for residential housing and a fire station. East Cambridgeshire District Council commissioned Royal Haskoning to undertake site investigations and quantitative risk assessments to determine the risks posed to residents. Current work includes site investigation and remediation planning.
