Eco Innovation Centre & EnviroCluster Breakfast Meeting Series

The Eco Innovation Centre in Peterborough, in association with EnviroCluster, will be holding breakfast presentations by Innovators from the region.

The meetings will take place at the Eco Innovation Centre between 07:45 - 09:00 with a light breakfast. Register now for tickets at £5 each by emailing guy.eames@cseng.org.uk

The meeting series is as follows:

3rd June                Heat Recovery from Ventilation

Dave Sheldon of Intra-Grated Solutions (IGS) has developed an innovative solution to recover heat from refrigeration.  This reduces energy demands and carbon footprint in environments where refrigeration and heating or other cooling needs are in found in close proximity.  Dave will give examples of applications and explain the obstacles to rapid expansion of this innovation.

10th June              Eco Innovation Myths & Truths

Michael  Reid, CSEng Technology Director, highlights cases in which the good work of scientists, engineers and others to develop genuinely sustainable technologies have been undermined by inflated or bogus claims of breakthroughs.

17th June              Environmental and ethical marketing and design - developing transparent, effective communication and brand strategies

Claire Simsek of Green Passion Creative specialises in graphic design that minimises environmental impact. She is qualified in product and service innovation with a Masters in Design, Strategy and Innovation management.  Based in the Eco Innovation Centre, Claire will talk about the ways in which companies can achieve effective environmental and ethical communications through strategic planning and cultural innovation.

24th June              Hydraulic Modulation - innovative water saving technology

Mark Lock of Aquavent has developed innovations to automatically control water pressures in mains, which reduces leaks. Rather than relying on batteries, these devices use hydraulic modulation, so do not require electricity. If installed widely, these could reduce the water currently lost in the UK - the equivalent to 58 million baths a day in the UK. Here Mark presents the Aquai-Mod® and discusses the obstacles in reaching the market.

1st July                  Anaerobic Digestion

Michael Langan, Commercial Director for the Centre for Sustainable Engineering and Chairman of East Mids branch of the Energy Institute, has been working on Anaerobic Digestion  reactors which will maximise biomass to energy conversion to optimise commercial performance and environmental benefits. Anaerobic Digestion is being promoted as a key technology to deliver a waste to energy solution resolving many waste management and renewable energy issues.

Please support us by coming and inviting your friends!  We plan after this series to put together many more events at the centre and at larger venues in Peterborough.

Environment Skills Forum - Last Few Places!

If you are interested in attending the EnviroCluster Skills Forum next week, then please book a place ASAP as we only have a few places left.

EnviroCluster, in partnership with the new Sustainable Construction faculty at the Peterborough University Centre, is looking for members of Peterborough's environmental and construction business communities to come along and discuss the skills shortages you face with the Dean of the Science and Technology Faculty at ARU, with a view to helping shape the courses being developed at the new University Centre.

The University will be setting up a sustainable construction faculty in Peterborough and so this will be the main focus of the forum. However, skills gaps from other sectors which interact with the sustainable construction sector will also be studied.

The event is taking place between 1 and 4pm on Tuesday June 3rd 2008 at the Eco Innovation Centre, Peterborough.

If you would like to attend, please RSVP with Gareth Jones, EnviroCluster Manager, by email: g.jones@ukceed.org or phone (01733) 311644.
